My practice explores thresholds where digital materiality and embodied experience converge. Through immersive XR environments, I create spaces that destabilize boundaries between physical and virtual, generating new forms of spatial poetics where these categories collapse into one another.
Huang Wei-Hsuan is a digital artist specializing in immersive media, virtual reality, and spatial projections. His work explores the reconstruction of spaces between memory and imagination using an expanded toolkit of digital photography, 3D scanning, game engines for machinema creation, and interactive narrative development. Through these techniques, he investigates the fluid boundaries between physical and virtual realms. Since 2019, Huang has expanded into XR (extended reality) development, co-producing "Shifting Borders," a wireless multi-user VR experience with Utrecht Theater in the Netherlands. Recent significant works include "Mali Bucha" (2023) with Thai choreographer Kornkarn Rungsawang, "Into the Mountain" (2024) at the Kaohsiung Film Festival, and "De La Poussière À La Lumière" (2022), a projection mapping installation at Lille Cathedral. Selected for the 2024 Cannes XR2C2 Laboratory, Huang continues to push boundaries in immersive storytelling through collaborations with performers, sound artists, and technologists. He has also contributed to productions at the Taichung Opera House and served as image designer for Taiwan's National Theater and Concert Hall and the Taipei Art Festival.
