"Shifting Border" is an experimental VR experience that reimagines future theater where boundaries dissolve between virtual and physical realms. Supported by Theater Utrecht's Innovation Lab, it transforms traditional audience-performer dynamics by positioning participants simultaneously as viewers and actors within shared virtual space. The experience uniquely integrates tangible objects with digital elements, allowing physical touch to influence virtual environments. Drawing from Taiwanese funeral rituals, it creates a liminal space where real objects gain digital significance. This new theatrical language blurs reality's edges, suggesting immersive performance spaces where virtuality and physicality seamlessly intertwine in meaningful narrative experiences.
